Job Listing

While Guilds offer the luxury of staying and the ability to visit other worlds, this does not come freely. The Guilds are all businesses and they have certain expectations that need to be met in order to continue receiving their generous services.

All jobs posted here will give characters a stipend and allow them a chance to live off of the main dormitories. With the exception of the Diamonds of Fortune, none of these jobs are mandatory, but there are some grunt positions for all guilds that anybody who doesn’t get a proper job will have to occasionally partake in. Diamonds of Fortune are required to take on a job, as the lodgings in the Diamond of Fortune headquarters are not free. If you wish to take on a job, simply post here with the job you are taking.

If you wish, you can request to take on a job under the purview of a different guild than your own. In your job post, you will need to write a justification for it to be ICly presented to your guildmaster. Depending on the justification and how friendly your guild is with the other guilds, your request may be approved or denied.

If you have suggestions or requests for jobs, simply reply to the open thread with your request and we will look into adding it.

Diamonds of Fortune

Planar Merchant: The Planar Merchant specializes in imports and exports. They gather goods from worlds where currency is low value and then sell them either within the Crossroads or on higher-valued worlds. Because there are strict import/export laws, Planar Merchants are expected to have firm knowledge of the rules and regulations and abide by them in the sight of the law.

Attorney: Law is important both within the Crossroads and without. Attorneys cover both prosecution and defense duties within the Crossroads, and can be dispatched to other worlds to get personnel out of local trouble.

Assassin: In ages past it was determined that it would be absolutely vital to regulate even the clandestine and illegal activity of murder. The Diamonds of Fortune volunteered to maintain the illegal activity within their own guild, forever existing on the boundary of legitimacy and illegitimacy. The Assassin’s guild is not openly acknowledged, but they do exist nonetheless. It is said that the Assassin’s guild has or is able to calculate to the cent the value of any resident of the Crossroads, so as to better determine their asking price. Assassins may not be hired to target non-natives, and the guild makes sure would-be killers are eliminated before they can do any harm.

Order of Scholarly Research

Planar Librarian: Planar Librarians are tasked with the stern duty of the acquisition and preservation of all written work throughout the multiverse. Planar Librarians are expected to travel to other worlds, find written work, and either bring them back or bring back copies so they can be preserved in the library.

Teacher: The noble duty of teaching falls to the Order of Scholarly Research. Most teachers are within the various schools and academies run by the Order, but teachers may also be stationed at various schools within the other districts, or even sent abroad to other worlds in some cases.

Researcher: Research is, quite naturally, one of the major functions of the Order of Scholarly Research. Researchers are tasked with going to other worlds and finding samples to further the progress of knowledge.

Knights of the Cross

Crossroads Police Department: The Crossroads PD is responsible for all security and police work within the Crossroads. There is at least one department in every district and patrols are regular throughout the Crossroads. Members of the Crossroads PD are trained in the use of combat weaponry and are licensed to drive squad cars. As such they will require a number of certifications before they begin active duty.

Customs and Immigration Official: With the sheer volume of travel between worlds, Customs and Immigrations Officials patrol known gates and inspect the luggage and credentials of anybody passing through the Crossroads.

Crossroads Investigation Bureau (CIB): Some crimes require more than a typical police investigation due to complexity, criminal organization, or other similar reasons. This is where the CIB comes in. The CIB has investigative jurisdiction over all crimes except misdemeanors, though they usually leave most common crimes to the Knights as a whole. The CIB comprises only the elite, and they require time spent with law enforcement, either in the Crossroads or in their respective worlds, for recruitment.

Seekers of Artistic Expression

Seeker of the Arts: The quintessential occupation within the Seekers of Artistic Expression, Seekers of the Arts go from world to world and gather rare and valuable works that they think will improve the artistic value of the multiverse.

Performer: Performers are extremely varied in job and function. They can be actors and actresses, singers, dancers, or some combination, and can appear in any number of mediums such as orchestra, television, or musical performance. If you are taking on this job, please specify the kind of performer you are.

Director: While Performers make the show, Directors are vital to making sure a show happens. They coordinate, plan, and otherwise make sure performances happen, devoting long hours and managing the entire cast and crew to make sure things go off without a hitch. They often command top billing, and tend to have rather large egos to boot. Directors can be all over the board, but obviously new talent won’t be directing the big budget productions within the Seekers of Artistic Expression.

The Hounds

Gladiator Gladiators fight in the various Arenas within the Lion district for sport and profit. Comes with great health benefits!

Bodyguard: Bodyguards are hired muscle that defend their employer from outside threats and enact appropriate levels of violence on any who might mess with them. Popular among the rich and powerful, they command top dollar - so long as they’re good at what they do.

Mercenary: Mercenaries are soldiers for hire, they tend to sell their services on worlds that have the capacity to access the Crossroads on their own that the council regulates less stringently. They can also be found acting as bouncers and performing any number of odd jobs, so long as the jobs require violence to solve.

Open Heart

Healer: The term “healer” encompasses a wide variety of professionals trained in the medicinal or healing arts. It can be clerics, mages, doctors or druids, if you can heal someone in some way, you are qualified. Healers are staffed at the many hospitals and churches around the Crossroads and provide aid as needed.

Apothecary/Pharmacist: Apothecaries and Pharmacists are responsible for the development and distribution of new medicines, drugs, and other substances. They tend to work closely with the Order of Scholarly Research, and the work they do is highly controlled.

Personnel Resources: These people are essentially the nervous system of the Open Heart. They possess information on the members of their guild, particularly their strengths. When approached with a request, they will call for the members whose skill sets meet the necessary tasks the best.
